Muay Thai in Pai: choose a gym, train a day or stay a month
Compare Pai Muay Thai gyms for beginners and longer stays: Charnchai, Sitjemam, Wisarut, Apple and Pai Fit, with contacts, prices and real traveller stories.

For Muay Thai training in Pai, start by comparing Charnchai, Sitjemam, the Wisarut/Sor Wisarut listings, Apple Muay Thai and Pai Fit. Choose around your experience, the coaching you receive in a trial session, your transport and whether you want a holiday class or a training routine. Check Sittiphong and Hongthong Pai’s status before planning around either: closure notices surfaced during our research.
Pai has an impressive ability to turn “I’ll try one class” into a spreadsheet containing monthly rent, hand wraps and the question “Could I move my flight?” Your backpack came for waterfalls. Your calendar is now negotiating with a pad holder.
This guide from Oasis Tiki Bar combines gym-published information, direct Google Maps checks, Reddit discussions, the 8LimbsUs forum and travellers’ own accounts. Research checked: 19 October 2026. The recommendations below are our editorial assessment of those sources. We have not personally tested every gym, and there is no universal winner for every student.
Pai Muay Thai gyms at a glance
The shortlist covers the Pai training businesses we could identify and usefully check, plus important old recommendations that need a status check. Tiny private setups and changing names make a guaranteed complete register unrealistic.
| Gym or listing | Why put it on your shortlist? | Published cost or key check |
|---|---|---|
| Charnchai / Charn Chai | Structured twice-daily camp option, with beginner and fighter training advertised. | 350 baht single session; 500 baht full day; 2,500 baht week; 9,000 baht month, training only. |
| Sitjemam | Small-group coaching and training-with-accommodation enquiries. | Request a current quote, timetable and room details. The legacy website contains unrelated material. |
| Wisarut / Sor Wisarut and The Art of 8 Limbs listings | A Mae Hi lead with long-stay traveller accounts and overlapping current business labels. | Confirm the exact coach, listing, entrance and current tariff; do not count the overlapping names as independently verified camps. |
| Apple Muay Thai | Worth enquiring about a first class, personal coaching or family sessions. | Ask for adult class times and day/week/month prices. Current Maps address differs from older directories. |
| Pai Fit | A one-hour introduction and an option alongside ordinary gym training. | 300 baht Muay Thai class; 100 baht open-gym pass. These are different services. |
| Sittiphong | Appears in older technique-focused recommendations. | Own website displays a June 21 last-training-day and Canada-relocation notice; confirm Pai operation first. |
| Hongthong Pai | A named Pai branch, distinct from Chiang Mai recommendations. | NOW Muay Thai reports closure for renovation; its booking page is unavailable for online bookings. |
The Charnchai figures come from its classes and pricing page; Pai Fit’s come from its current schedule. These are published planning figures, rather than quotes for your visit. Check equipment hire, private lessons, meals, room charges and what a “week” or “month” actually includes.
Charnchai: a strong starting point for a structured training stay
Shortlist it if: you want to investigate a regular camp routine, whether you are starting from zero or already training.
The gym’s own introduction says it accommodates beginners through professional fighters under Bee and the team. Its published timetable is Monday–Saturday, 8–10 am and 3–5 pm, with Wednesday and Saturday marked sparring/training and Sunday closed. Those labels do not mean a first-timer must spar; explain your experience and ask how your session will work.
For a longer visit, its train-and-stay page describes accommodation away from the gym and asks students who cannot ride a scooter to discuss walking-distance guesthouse options. Ask about the actual room and journey before paying. The shortest commute is the one you will still tolerate when your legs have submitted a formal complaint.

The contact page lists 174 Moo 1, Chaisong, Pai. Confirm the current entrance with the gym.
The travellers who tried to outsmart Saturday
In a 12 January 2015 AdventureCoupleAsia travelogue, the writers chose Saturday as their first Charn Chai training day because Sunday would be a day off. Excellent calendar management. Their account then describes a four-kilometre run and 356 temple steps as the morning warm-up.
The rest day was real. The loophole was less successful.
That is their historical experience, not today’s compulsory beginner workout or a verified current step count. Its useful lesson survives: ask what the warm-up involves and how it is adapted for you, rather than assuming “beginner-friendly” means “mostly sitting down”.
For another perspective, JamesKitwadee, posting on 8LimbsUs on 27 January 2020, described separate six-week and six-month stays, a friendly atmosphere and physically intense training, including attention to beginners’ technique. It is a dated personal account, but a useful reminder that welcoming and demanding can occupy the same gym.
Sitjemam: investigate the coaching and camp-living combination
Shortlist it if: you want a smaller-group training enquiry and are considering staying with fellow trainees.
Sitjemam’s published background describes Mam and Em, small-group work and students from beginners to fighters. Its accommodation material describes camp rooms and longer training packages. A booking partner also advertises Sitjemam training and accommodation. Treat the package description as a starting point for a dated quote, including room category, meals, equipment and cancellation terms.
Contact: Facebook: sitjemam.muaythai · Call +66 86 182 6483 · Call +66 83 321 2230 · Email [email protected] · Google Maps listing.
Maps lists 2 Moo 6, Mae Na Toeng. The two phone numbers and Facebook are also recorded in the Muaythaitv gym entry. During our check, the legacy sitjemammuaythai.com pages contained unrelated gambling material mixed with gym information. Use the direct contacts above to verify current arrangements.
A real return-trip story: in a Google Maps review displayed as two months old when checked, Sarah Appleton recalled an initial month about eleven years earlier, a later two-week return and another week two years before the review. She described the training community and catching up with Mam and Em. We read the expanded review on the listing linked above; her visits are historical, rather than proof of today’s timetable.
Some people collect fridge magnets. Sarah appears to have collected return visits and an unusually durable relationship with a training camp. A useful question for your trial is whether you can imagine enjoying the ordinary Tuesday here, not just the exciting first morning.
Wisarut, Sor Wisarut and the overlapping Art of 8 Limbs labels
Shortlist this Mae Hi lead if: the family-gym accounts appeal, and you are willing to clarify exactly who and where you will train with.
The naming needs care. Searching Wisarut Family Gym on Maps currently brings up The Art of 8 Limbs and Sor.wisarut muaythai pai in the same small area. The Sor Wisarut listing also carries an owner post using the Art of the 8 Limbs name. We have not established the precise business relationship, so ask which coach, entrance and programme your booking covers.
Sor Wisarut contact: Maps listing · Facebook: wisarutmuaythaigym · Call +66 97 985 6176. Maps gives 259 Moo 1, Ban Mae Yen, Mae Hi.
The Art of 8 Limbs listing: Maps listing · Listed website · Call +66 99 139 5459. The former muaythaipai.com domain now redirects to that website. Confirm local sessions directly; we are not treating its course listings as a verified Pai price list.
On Reddit’s “How to find a good gym” thread, No-Strawberry-6956 praised a quiet Wisarut experience, while explaining that a small student group did not always support a separate beginner class. In another Pai discussion, the same username recalled roughly eight months training there in 2023. These are one person’s accounts, not two independent votes.
More recently, Joseph Abboud, in a Sor Wisarut Maps review displayed as four weeks old, described six weeks in 2026 with Kru Jason and Kru Noah and said they accommodated different levels. We read the full review. Ask who is teaching your dates; an old favourite trainer cannot be summoned by showing reception a Reddit screenshot.
The practical trade-off is worth understanding: a small class can mean personal correction, but the right training partners and beginner support still need checking. “Small” is a head count. “Right for me” takes a conversation.
Apple Muay Thai: put a trial session on the list
Shortlist it if: you want to ask about a welcoming introduction, individual attention or a family session.
Contact: Instagram @apple_muay_thai_gym_pai · Call +66 63 336 7009 · Google Maps listing.
The current Maps listing gives 1217 Moo 8, Wiang Tai and links that Instagram account. Older directories show another street number; use the current listing and confirm the entrance. Experience Pai also identifies children’s Muay Thai sessions here. Ask about your child’s age and today’s programme rather than applying adult arrangements to a child.
We have not verified a current public adult tariff or monthly package. Ask about group versus private sessions, coaching for your level, equipment and longer-stay options.
A real case of Pai calendar drift: Fara Varea Mas, in an expanded Maps review displayed as five months old, said she and a friend intended to train for one day and stayed a whole week. She described welcoming, energetic training. Your first budgeting question may therefore be “How much is a class?” Your second may be “How flexible is my next bus ticket?”
That is one visitor’s experience. Read recent reviews, discuss your goals and try the actual class before paying for a longer block.
Pai Fit: a manageable introduction alongside other gym training
Shortlist it if: you want to try a one-hour session or combine Muay Thai with ordinary gym access.
Pai Fit’s schedule lists 60-minute Muay Thai classes at 300 baht, with sessions at 9–10 am and 5–6 pm Monday–Saturday, and 5–6 pm Sunday. Its 100-baht open-gym pass is self-directed access, so book a coached session if you want instruction. Check the current weekly calendar before setting off.
Contact: Official website · Schedule · Instagram @paifitgym · Facebook · Location page.
The gym FAQ says to message on Instagram/Facebook for a confirmed place or enquire at the front desk, paying at the gym. We did not find a confirmed public telephone number. Its location is Thesaban 1 Road, Wiang Tai. Ask directly about any week or month arrangement; a series of drop-ins is not automatically a camp package.
The group-class plot twist: Connor Kitto, in a full Maps review displayed as three months old, described two complete beginners joining the 5 pm class. They were the only two students, so it felt like a private class. Read the Pai Fit listing and reviews.
Accidental VIP treatment: no velvet rope, just two people and nowhere to hide from the next exercise. Class size varies; his lucky turnout is not a private-lesson offer.
Older recommendations to check before you travel
Sittiphong: read the relocation notice first
Sittiphong appears in Reddit discussions as a technique-focused Muay Femur option. Its own training page now says the last training day will be June 21, followed by closure and preparation for relocation to Canada, and asks people not to book beyond that date. The notice does not show a year. With that conflict still visible, we cannot recommend turning up for a Pai class on the strength of the remaining package cards.
Status enquiry: Official contact page · Email [email protected] · Published WhatsApp +1 604 848 9633. That is the international number the gym publishes, not a Thai local number.
Hongthong Pai: a reopening question, not an assumed class
NOW Muay Thai’s recent destination guide labels the Pai branch closed for renovation. Its Pai business page also says online booking is unavailable. That is a platform report, rather than a reopening date confirmed to us by the gym.
Use those pages to check the Pai listing; for a direct enquiry, the Hongthong network’s Facebook page is associated with its Chiang Mai gym. Specify Pai when asking about the branch. A glowing Chiang Mai review does not establish an open Pai session, and we have not verified a separate current Pai telephone number.
Border Pai and other old forum names
The 2019 8LimbsUs thread also mentions Border Pai Muay Thai. We could not establish a current public business contact and operation from that lead, so it is not a confirmed option in our shortlist. Likewise, Apollo results led to Phuket gyms, rather than a verified Pai camp. When searching, keep the town attached to the gym name; Thailand is slightly larger than one Google tab.
One class, one week or a month: how to choose
A class or a few holiday sessions
Start with the gym that can clearly explain your first lesson, equipment costs and how it handles a complete beginner. Pai Fit’s published one-hour format and Charnchai’s single-session option make straightforward enquiries. Apple, Sitjemam and Sor Wisarut are also worth asking about trial arrangements.
Tell the coach your actual experience. Watching forty fight highlights on the bus is enthusiasm, not forty fights. Ask whether sparring is optional and supervised, and say plainly if you want technique and pad work without contact sparring.
A week or two
Try a session before buying a block. Ask who will teach you regularly, whether beginners receive basic stance and movement instruction, and how much pad work, clinch practice and correction your class includes. Experienced students should ask about suitable partners and the current training group.
Reddit’s gym-finding discussion recommends trying several gyms before choosing. That is useful advice to apply at a sensible pace, rather than squeezing every camp into one heroic afternoon.
After a trial, ask yourself: did someone notice and explain my mistakes? Could I ask questions? Was the session suitable for my level? Would I want to come back tomorrow? An impressive ring photograph cannot answer those for you.
A month or longer
Request the complete training-and-living offer in writing: session allowance, rest days, start and expiry dates, private coaching, equipment, meals, room type, bathroom arrangements, deposits and cancellation or pause terms. Check the actual accommodation and the daily journey before committing. A room described as “near Pai” may be less charming when you need to reach training twice a day.
Charnchai and Sitjemam have published stay information to discuss. For the other leads, establish whether accommodation or long-term coaching is offered at all. Ask how a coach would structure your goals and assess progress; do not assume a bigger advance payment guarantees better attention or a fight.
JamesKitwadee’s six-week and six-month visits, Sarah’s repeated returns, and the Wisarut Reddit account of eight months show that long training stays happen. They do not predict your results, or establish current staffing, accommodation or visa arrangements. Keep your first accommodation commitment flexible enough to choose after a real session.
What to pack, and what to ask before day one
Bring comfortable training clothes, a towel, drinking water and a change of clothes. Ask about gloves, wraps and any rental charge before arriving; Pai Fit’s FAQ lists equipment lending, while other gyms have their own arrangements. If contact training is part of your plan, ask the coach what protective equipment and supervision are required.
Discuss your fitness, previous injuries and preferred pace privately with the coach. You do not need to perform toughness for strangers. Agree on breaks and a manageable start; seek qualified advice for health concerns rather than using a travel article as a training prescription. Make time for sleep, food and rest between sessions.
Check the weather and current air quality before fixing a long stay. Several Pai Reddit replies specifically warn about smoky-season training; read our Pai smoky-season planning guide for monitoring sources. A mountain view is lovely. It is not an air-quality reading.
Where to stay between sessions
Choose your gym first, then compare town versus countryside accommodation and the real journey at class time. Our Pai town or Tha Pai village guide explains the practical differences, and our transport guide helps with the wider arrival plan.
Oasis Tiki Bar is in Tha Pai village, with simple open-air bungalows and bunk beds. Read the stay details and contact Oasis Tiki Bar if that setting appeals. We are a separate bar and accommodation business; gym membership, training, equipment, meals and transfers are arranged directly with their providers. We have not measured a training commute to each gym.
Between sessions, explore our Pai food guide, yoga class finder or solo-traveller ideas, choosing what suits your training plan. There is no prize for turning a rest day into a second endurance event.
Sources are linked beside the claims and stories. Google Maps reviews are visitors’ accounts, not verified outcomes; relative review ages are those displayed on our research date. Reddit and forum posts are historical personal perspectives, with possible undisclosed affiliations. We have left out anonymous personal allegations, guaranteed transformations and unsupported “best in Thailand” rankings. The jokes are our own editorial additions; the travellers’ experiences belong to them.
